Thanks v much to both AM and AG - no not seen the Guardian article before- heard end of story on radio tomorrow (turned on too late).
Hmm - think we need to raise a voice about this - to the Statistics Authority and perhaps SUF , and Health Select Committee (MP question?) on this.

Subject: FW: Public health statistics could cease to be published amid wave of budget cuts
This is in addition to what Paul Marchant circulated yesterday in relation to small area statistics. This is about ONS' national programme of health analysis, including mortality, caner and health surveys. The Health Statistics Users Group has been told that there will be a consultation about what is going to be cut. ' With regards to the consultation on ONS health-related outputs, I am afraid I can't give you any specific information at the moment; only that we expect the consultation to go out later in the year, and we will keep HSUG informed of all developments.'
Meanwhile some information has slipped out and into the Guardian.
