Dear Karen
The iSTAT end point of measure is one of the main issues. See attachment. As far as I am aware there is currently no EQA available for this device. I would suggest you run a comparison with any Hemochron devices you have on a regular basis to ensure there is similarity between the instruments.
Sorry not much help.

Subject: iSTAT Kaolin ACT Testing
Dear All
We are using the iSTAT for ACT testing for hemofiltration of CHF patients. The iSTAT ticked all boxes in that it is can be used for other analyte testing. I was misinformed initially and was told that NEQAS offered ACT EQA for the iSTAT but alas it is only for the Hemochron. Are there any others using the iSTAT for ACT testing and if yes, what do you do instead of EQA? Slap on wrist for not doing my homework properly.
I can’t remember the numbers quoted by NEQAS to get a scheme up and running (I think it is 15, but don’t quote me on that)
Kind regards
Karen
