Dear CHAT list -
A copy of a note that I sent to the CHAT Standing Committee is posted below.
Given the content, I felt that it was important to share this with the whole list, although obviously decisions about the future shape of the Standing Committee lies with those listed here - http://www.contemp-hist-arch.ac.uk/contact

Dear CHAT Standing Committee -
As you may or may not know, the whole of the UCL Archaeology website seems, rather oddly, to have become 'mirrored' on the CHAT website: http://www.contemp-hist-arch.ac.uk/archaeology/
This will undoubtedly be an easy technical problem to fix. But it is also perhaps a timely reminder that the CHAT group has always striven to avoid becoming overly associated with any single university or location.
You will recall that for this reason, after the first five years of CHAT came to an end on 2007, the founding Standing Committee decided to stand itself down: to allow a new generation of archaeologists in this field to take the group in new directions. And with very exciting results. The publication of the new Journal of Contemporary Archaeology is one landmark, as well as the excellent conferences and conference proceedings.
But many new archaeologists have begun to contribute to our field since then. So I wonder how - having taken up this opportunity in 2007, which is now 6 years ago - you feel about the potential to allow a new generation of historical and contemporary archaeologists to move things forward in new directions, through a similar process?
A reminder of the list of the first Standing Committee from 2003, which stood down after 5 years, is here -
