Hi Simon
I frequently get told that it is not the same as reading print. However usually if people are encouraged they do enjoy them and I think the important thing is to play them on something you can navigate on because it is really frustrating if the CD always runs back to the beginning or you cannot find where you stopped easily when you fell asleep. I am with Alistair - the ironing or washing up pass much quicker with a good audio book.
Best wishes Julie

Subject: From print to audio
Some of our readers are reluctant to try audio books because "it's just
not the same as having a book in your hand" or "it always sends me to
sleep". At the RNIB library service we want to encourage people to at
least try it so they can read many more titles. Have you got a top tip
for getting used to audio books or how to practice effective listening?
Thanks for your help!
