Departmental Lecturer in Systems Security
Grade 8: £37,382 - £44,607 p.a.
The opportunity has arisen to appoint a full-time Departmental Lecturer in Computer Science (Systems Security). This is an opportunity to join the Software Engineering Programme and the team in Systems Security including Drs Andrew Martin, Ivan Fléchais, Ivan Martinovic and others. This will be a fixed-term appointment for 4 years from 1 October 2013. Details of the Department of Computer Science and the Software Engineering Programme together with details of the post are given in the further particulars.
The postholder will be a full member of the team responsible for teaching in Systems Security within the context of the Software Engineering Programme.
Duties:
- To participate in the teaching for the Software Engineering Programme.
- To examine for the University when required.
- To engage in excellent research in systems security.
- To supervise, or assist in supervising, graduate students as required.
Departmental Lecturers are expected to engage in excellent research within the area and they are encouraged to apply for funding to support their research activities, and be involved in supervising doctoral students.
Applicants should have or be about to complete a doctoral degree in computer science. They should have a track record of research in the area of systems security. They must be able to demonstrate excellence in teaching in a sufficient variety of subjects. The post is intended as a career development position for a junior academic; the contract is not renewable.
