Through the many wards
Of the Severance Hospital,
Seoul, a small choir wends
Of an evening, pausing
As now between lifts
And nurses' station,
To sing in Korean
Songs of uplift - Christian? -
Soprano, baritone
And keyboard.
Doors open,
The sick in pajamas
Emblazoned 'Severance'
Appear smiling,
Their family members
Also, like me, a husband
Here while his wife
Has surgery,
Stand in the corridor
Smiling. In my case
Holding her iPhone
To record the event.
They cease. We clap.
I return her phone -
Which she now plays
Their music on,
Remote but still healing.
'But you had your hand
Over the lens!
You filmed your hand!
Can I post this
For my Facebook Friends?!
Sent from my iPhone
