Hi,
I thought that you might know of artists and designers who might be interested in the following academic positions.
++
We are currently advertising for Two Full Time Senior Lecturers in Digital Media Design. The following is additional contextual information to the job advert which can be found here:
http://www.bournemouth.ac.uk/jobs/med442.html
Both posts will be focussed on teaching through knowledge of recent, current and emerging creative digital media practices for a BA Hons Degree in Digital Media Design that has increasing student recruitment. Candidates should have experience of the latest digital media production environments, covering creative design, visual communications and production / ideation, art or creative direction with strong portfolio of technical / programing knowledge and an excellent and relevant industry / sector network. Ideally, the candidates will also have academic experience teaching in this area or related Art and Design subject at HE level.
The appointed staff will be expected to take on leadership roles, shaping the future of the course as it transforms the academic, media, creative and cultural sectors. There will be the opportunity to also help support new proposed Postgraduate activity. We have extensive media production facilities and academic staff work with dedicated technical tutors who deliver core aspects of software teaching (A new Technical Tutor post is also being advertised). Most of our courses are taught within a Media Production framework of related courses, and you will join at a moment in which we are growing and recruiting new staff with significant new generic degree in Media Production opening this year. Within the framework, we deliver teaching through a balance between theory and practice. The area you will be joining complements the new BA and existing degrees in Television, Radio and Scriptwriting, and a large and successful MA Media Production Framework.
Joining the Media Production Academic Group, you will be part of a community that is highly regarded by the creative media sector for the quality of our students. We have a number of PhD students (over 90 in the Media School) and links with HKU in Holland. Staff in Digital Media Design have close relationships with other computer based creative degrees and research within the National Centre for Computer Animation (NCCA), which is in The Media School. In 2011, The Media School with NCCA won the Queens Award for Higher Education. (Please note: We are NOT the Arts University Bournemouth, which is a separate institution).
New staff are encouraged to join one of a number of research groups, and are supported to pursue research through practice or publication based activity in the area of Art and Design or Media and Communications. In the last RAE 2008, led by Computer Animation and Digital Arts research, in Art and Design our research was rated at 70% World leading and International with 100% World Leading esteem indicators. We were rated 9th by The Guardian for Art and Design in the UK. In Media and Communications we have a growing number of International and World Leading academic achievements in research and are growing capability in this area.
Candidates would need to be willing to undertake a relevant PhD, by practice or in a related area of Digital Media, Interaction, Digital Media Arts etc. Candidates holding a PhD are very welcome of course.
Based in London for the last ten years, I can attest that BU is a great place to work, either through relocation or by commute (1h 40 mins by train from Waterloo).
