MeCCSA Radio Studies Network is hosting an evening seminar onTuesday 9th
June 2013 at 18.00 at the start of -
The Radio Conference, A Transnational Forum,
University of Bedfordshire, New Campus Centre Luton.
The seminar programme is deliberately diverse, exemplifyingthe themes
of the main conference. It features significant speakers from theUK,
Europe, the US and New Zealand. Theyare:
* The sound of silence: pace, pauses and dead air (Peter Lewis)
* The Politics of Listening to (Anti-) Social Media (Kate Lacey)
* Team Captains, Voracious Voyagers, and Dutiful Aggregators: NPR’s
Audience Research and the Creation of a Radio Public in the Era of
Privatization (Jason Loviglio)
* Radio Quake: broadcasting in post-quake Christchurch (Zita Joyce)
* Curation, Negotiation and Multistability - what we can learn from
24 years of Danish youth radio (Mette Simonsen Abildgaard)
Registration is from 16.00, with tea from 17.00 and the seminarat
18.00-20.00, Room G101.
This will be followed by a reception with drinks and lightsupper
20.00-21.30.

MeCCSA is the subject association for the field of media, communication and cultural studies in UK Higher Education.
