Dear Colleagues
Can I draw your attention to a vacancy in my department for a 0.5 Senior Lecturer in Media Theory. This department is situated within the Manchester School of Art at MMU so has a strong creative practice focus:
The Media Department is looking for a new media scholar to teach into the BA Film and Media Studies programme and play an active role in developing the field of new media and digital theory. Working closely with colleagues from film and media, but also contemporary art and design, you will join a strong team of staff and a thriving and supportive research culture. Staff are able to seek research funding from the MIRIAD research institute, and the School of Art has a successful track record in the Research Assessment Exercise.
You will be able to teach across a range of film and media subjects. An active interest in critical/theoretical approaches to amongst others, web based production and consumption of images, interactive games and new narrative theory, mobile media and virtual reality, and social media and the impact of emergent technologies would be an advantage. You will teach alongside specialists in other fields of media studies and film, but also play a role across the School of Art, contributing to new and innovative developments in interdisciplinary creativity in art, design and media.
