Dear Hannah,
In case it is useful to know, we are transcribing ISBN qualifiers as written, i.e. only using abbreviations if used on the item and writing the qualifiers out in full if this is what is on the item. We found the BL Monograph WEMI workflow is really useful for this (and lots of other things too), and we used this workflow as the basis of our decision as we found the toolkit a bit inconclusive.
Best wishes,
Debbie

Subject: [LIS-UKBIBS] Recording ISBNs according to RDA
Hi,
When recording qualifiers to ISBNs in RDA, do we abbreviate or use the full spelling of the qualification?
Ie. Is it:
1) 0-435-91661-0 (pbk.)
of
2) 0-435-91661-0 (paperback)?
Or can either be used?
1) is used in the RDA toolkit example in 2.15.1.7 whereas 2) is used in the examples in the RDA Toolkit under the 'Resources' tab (see page 11 of examples).
Best wishes
Hannah
