I thought some members would be interested in a small piece of research carried out by Wiltshire Centre for Independent Living about the support needs of self funders of social care in Wiltshire and their family carers. The research can be found at our website:-

The Wiltshire Self Funders Forum we have built up over 2 years and compliments our support to direct payment users contracted by Wiltshire Council has been recognised by Skills for Care in recent research as an example of good practice to be replicated nationally but this research shows self funders also need access to one to one support on line and in person to plan the support they need to arrange. Disabled peoples' organisations are well placed to provide this support because of the expertise they have developed in supporting people on direct payments and personal budgets. Do any other CILs work with self funders?
