This sounds like a real potential nightmare for us in the scenario of running high stakes, summative exams in Blackboard. No way do we want students to immediately be able to see results from an exam - especially as we use a 16 point scale.

Therefore with the introduction of My Grades in the Global Navigation Menu students will be able to see My Grades for all courses without action from the tutor.

I think this will not be the expected outcome from the tutors point of view although I can see why it happens technically.

It's particularly problematic for Turnitin marks as many staff don't realise grades go straight through to the Grade Centre if they don't open 'more options' in Turnitin and change the relevant setting.

This would be an extra step for tutors if they want to use it and may result in less usage which would be a pity. And there is still the potential for problems if tutors hide My Grades on the course menu thinking they're hiding the Grades from students completely.

Our concerns are also around the ordering of the items in the new My Grades tool, in that they do not adhere to the ordering in the Grade Centre, and therefore we cannot control and ensure clarify for the students in the new tool by ordering the Grade Centre columns. This particular issue has been listed as a KB article:

Have you opened a ticket about this, and been in touch with your Account Manager? My Account Manager has recommended both of these routes to ensure PD understand how many people this affects.

However, we have concerns about the new look My Grades, particularly that it makes it difficult for students to identify if they have feedback attached along with their grades and that it’s harder to see all their details about their progress in a single view without having to scroll down the page. Has anyone switched off the new My Grades in order to revert to using the older one? What have you found by doing this?
