EXPLORE YOUR ARCHIVE
Is there an item in your collection which makes a strong visual impact? An image that always turns heads? Please tell us about it right now.
Do you want to share your early ideas about Explore Your Archive? Sign up for your place at a free Workshop in July.
THAT PERFECT CAMPAIGN IMAGE
We are producing a small number of Explore Your Archive campaign posters and need really strong images to underline for the public the richness and diversity of archives collections in the UK and Ireland. The images need to be very striking and eye-catching, and illustrate the importance of archives to civic life and education, as well as historical research. The posters will be one of the ways we will engage with the public during the campaign from 16 November, and we expect them to be put up in archives and other buildings all over the UK and Ireland.
Manuscripts, drawings, artefacts, photographs, maps, digital images….. What do you have in your collection that would really make someone stop and look? (The image must be available for us to reproduce right now, with appropriate credits of course.)
This is a great opportunity for an item from your collection to be the star of a national campaign poster.
If you have the perfect image or images – tell us right now. Please send us an email with the image attached and tell us, very briefly what it is. We will get back to very quickly to talk more if we feel the image is right for the national campaign. Please send your image to [log in to unmask]
We’ll be making a decision on the images we want to use in the Autumn 2013 Campaign in the next two weeks.
CAMPAIGN WORKSHOPS
How will your organisation take part in the EXPLORE YOUR ARCHIVE public awareness campaign this November?
A free EXPLORE YOUR ARCHIVE workshop will be held at the University of Manchester on 17 July.
Forster Communication, who worked with the Archives and Records Association and The National Archives to develop the EXPLORE YOUR ARCHIVE campaign, will be leading the session about how to get the best out of the toolkit (www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/yourtoolkit).
Delegates will be expected to come to the workshop with their ideas for how their organisation can play its part; there will be time to share and work up ideas.
Venue: The University of Manchester. Room: Sackville Building G13D, Sackville Street. 5 minutes from Manchester Piccadilly Station. Time: The Workshop will run from 11am to 3pm. Attendance is free.
