I have not had any direct involvement with CO monitors, only the blood gas analysers in our Chest Clinic. My approach has always been that this type of equipment falls under the traditional Medical Device banner and not POCT. Our Medical Equipment Management Service would look after them as part of the medical library.
I have always regarded any piece of equipment that produces a result due to a reaction taking place, as POCT. There are some grey areas such as TEGS and ROTEM where I have some input into the governance of these devices but monitors have not been covered by the POCT service.
Hope this helps.
