Yeah Mark, he's definitely one of the most lauded/appreciated poets up
here; although to be frank he's mainly a matter of interest to his
surviving contemporaries and to enthusiastic belles lettres -audiences. He
became a topic of discussion again around his death, not surprisingly, and
culturally aware Finns do recognize his name. Although he did spend most of
his life elsewhere, he was and is widely considered a treasure (by the kind
of people who are interested in poetry in the first place).
