Much of Mr. Dolan's writing is sheer spin. That in itself leaves a nasty taint in the mouth.
All very well to speak of alternate names for an organisation - but Dolan's only commenting on what Cilip themselves - or, more likely, their advertising agency - have suggested.
It really does remind me of the EU: we will make you vote again, until you reach the correct decision.
I will be retiring next week; and have therefore resigned my membership. There seems to be little point in it: and I have the rest of my life to get on with. I will watch with detached interest how the future pans out for Cilip, but have no intention of becoming a 'retired librarian' at AGMs ;)

Seems to me that you, Caroline, should offer to write a guest blog in respo= nse to Mr Dolan's.
Mr Dolan offers us various selected statistics from the survey, but without= seeing the full results one cannot comment on them.
An increase in the % of new members recruited, and a decrease in the % of l= oss of members is meaningless without the actual figures being supplied. I= suspect that membership continues to decline.

I rather thought that by calling for the General Meeting the membership hav= e already 'voted for choice' rather than accept the expensive fait accompli= of a re-brand. The Motion calls for a halt to the re-brand in order to fo= cus on "the urgent tasks of advocacy for the profession."
