Hi there,
I have just joined the Xerte mailing list for teachers. I work at the University of Dundee and my students learn online at a distance, mainly via a Blackboard (BB) VLE, online tutorials and a Wordpress blog. As a professional development programme it is essential our students access exciting, interactive and visually attractive materials, which engage them.
I have been trying to create more visual and interactive reusable learning objects. I have been playing with Xerte for a few months now and was becoming increasingly frustrated with my ineptitude as a teacher not an LT, I have not found it as intuitive as I had hoped it would be (my problem). Earlier this week I attended the JISC Xerte workshop in Glasgow and now feel much more able to get on with it, try the new version, access the toolkits more. I would encourage anyone who is keen to attend these workshops if you can 'work elsewhere' for the day.
I hope to have created a XERTE RLO by the end of the summer for inclusion with our materials and look forward to evaluating it with our learners. With my colleagues at Dundee we are also hoping to use Xerte to add interactive elements into our current learning units.
Cheers
Lucy
