Vacancy: Postdoc position in Transport and/or Mobility
Research area: Humanities & Social Sciences
At the Department of Human Geography, Goethe University Frankfurt am
Main, Germany, a postdoc fellowship in sustainable transport/mobility
research as part of the Goethe International Postdoc Programme (GO-IN)
is available, starting in September, 2013 for a 12-24 month period. The
mobility research group at Goethe University offers a stimulating and
enthusiastic environment for developing research ideas. We are an
interdisciplinary group with broad expertise in various areas of
transport and mobility research.
We are looking for a highly qualified, enthusiastic and ambitious
colleague with a PhD in geography, social sciences, transport,
environmental studies, planning, environmental psychology or related areas.
The successful candidate is expected to contribute by his or her
research to the group’s research profile. For the application a research
proposal is expected. The proposal should relate to sustainable
transport by at least one of the topics (1) understanding travel
behaviour dynamics, (2) urban form, accessibility and transport or (3)
travel demand / mobility management. Additionally, (4) a topic related
to climate change mitigation by transport options would be of interest

The GO-IN programme focuses on incoming mobility and addresses junior
researchers from all nationalities.
Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main is one of the largest
universities in Germany with approximately 41,000 students, 2,650 PhD
students and 560 professors in 16 faculties. Embedded in a metropolitan
area of considerable economic strength, with a sizeable international
population and a cosmopolitan spirit, the University covers a wide range
of subjects.
Eligibility criteria:
• full-time research experience of minimum 4 years (incl. the phase of
the PhD) and max. 10 years, part-time experience is to be converted into
full-time equivalent
• applicants may not have spent more than 6 months in Germany in the
past three years
• completeness of the application form and further documents
• applying for a time span between 12 and 24 months
• the applicant’s research project generally fits into our research profile
