My grandmother sewed. She also was really good at math. Not until I
saw my ex's grandmother lay out a pattern did I truly understand how
brilliant my own grandmother had been. The weave, matching up the
print, the return, how to do it wasting the least cloth. Ex's
grandmother just slapped the paper onto the fabric. It was some
holiday... it was not my place to say, you know... that piece goes
there, and you've got enough overage to just double this up and make
two of whatever you're making.
Oh, now this is making me think of Bangladesh.
