Modelling the Credit Risk of a Small Business:
State of the Art and Future Directions
Following the recent credit squeeze, lending to Small and Medium Sized Enterprises (SMEs) remains at the top of the agenda for governments around the world. With various political and economic incentives introduced to support SMEs, it is important not to overlook the practicalities of credit risk assessment, as access to credit is contingent on meeting the risk standards of credit providers, especially in the environment of prudent lending. This unique one-day event, organised by the Credit Research Centre, brings together practitioners and academics in order to discuss the most pertinent issues of SMEs' finance and credit risk with a view to setting a research agenda relevant to lenders and regulators. Keynote Speakers are:
Dr Alicia Robb, Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation, University of California, Santa Cruz and University of Colorado, Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta, Basque Institute for Competitiveness:
The Impact of Credit Scoring on Access to Credit by Small Businesses in the United States
Professor Thorsten Beck, Department of Economics at Tilburg University:
SME Lending Techniques: Evidence from Bank Survey and Loan Level Data
The Workshop will be held in the University of Edinburgh Business School and there is a modest fee (VAT exempt) for attendance at the Workshop of £50 for registration before 4th June 2013, increasing to £75 for registration on or after 4th June 2013. This includes lunch and refreshments and a workshop pack per delegate. Attendance for students is free, but registration is essential to reseve a place.
