I've been working with Sam to get the CentOS 6.x OpenSSH to build/work with Moonshot. Make sure that your FreeRADIUS setup returns a SAML-AAA-Assertion attribute that matches the username you want to log into your Moonshot server with. If necessary, run FR with "radiusd -X" to see what your FR returns to the SSH server, and run the SSH server with "/usr/sbin/sshd -d" to see what it spits out on its end.
So far, I've managed to log in with GSSAPI when I specify a username, but Sam is looking into the null user problem (because it doesn't work here).
Let me know... I'm happy to share what I have.

Which branch of the moonshot openssh git did you use?
You probably want the debian-5.9p1 branch with all the debian patches applied.
You don't need to do a debian build, just to include all those patches or at least the gss related ones.
Alternatively apply our patches to the SRPM for the old ssh.
Also, make sure privilegeseparation is turned off.
