Hmm...I tend to find that understanding the question often provides the solution ;) !
Being able to ask a technical question in non-technical terms is a great gift and I for one have found that if doing that enables you to latch on to a "lateral thinker" then you are nearly home and dry!
I remember well finding an error in a spread sheet formula: the author could not bring himself to admit he had "made a mistake" so put it down to an "algorithmic incompatibility"! Now, this fellow was a member of MENSA so I guess that admitting to being mortal did not come into the equation :) !
I shall stick to my mantra of: "The only silly question is the one you don't ask" so keep the questions coming!
