Johanna, I SO agree with you. This smacks of another vain outpouring of scarce resources, similar to the reaccreditation exercise.
Meanwhile, public libraries are closing, or remaining opening thanks to volunteers.
I always had to explain to friends what the ASLIB acronym stood for.
It's what the organisation does, & how loudly they put over the message, that's the critical factor.
I do think that an Information Association without a Members' Enquiries section is like an egg without salt.

At the time the survey was sent out there was a meeting in progress at wh= ich one authority was discussing closing all but one if it's county libra= ries. Moving deck chairs comes to mind and I for one am horrified that "= rebranding" is what CILIP has chosen to use it's scant resources on. Ther= e are far, far bigger issues facing us than a name.=20
