*VISIT TO **THE PEOPLE'S HISTORY MUSEUM, LEFT BANK, SPINNINGFIELDS,
MANCHESTER M3 3ER*
*Tuesday, 2nd July at 2.00pm*
A guided visit to the *People's History Museum* has been arranged as a
preliminary to *CILIP's Retired Members' Guild* AGM. The guided tour
will be preceded by a talk by the Archivist who will display some of the
historic documents. The visit and talk *are open to all CILIP members,
retired or not*.
The exhibits (see http://www.phm.org.uk/our-collection/ ) consist
primarily of items from the last 200 years of the organised labour
movement in Britain representing the social history of working people.
The collection of 18th and 19th century political cartoons is generally
regarded as one of the finest outside the British Museum.
Cost: £3 to RMG payable on the day. A lunch can be purchased at the cafe
before the visit and tea at the end.
In addition to hearing the dramatic story of the development of
democracy in Britain, colleagues who attend will also have an
opportunity to learn about the Retired Members' Guild, its activities
and publications.
Numbers are limited but to book your place please send an application to
Tom Featherstone using the form below:
