There is technological progress though. LightBoost, for example, which is basically
a flashed LED backlight technology, affordable and very promising when it comes to timely
precise and instant stimulus onsets (see e.g. http://display-corner.epfl.ch/index.php/LightBoost).
In this respect, I would claim, LightBoost LCDs are even better than a CRTs. Sure, it
comes at the price of bad colors, but who really cares when having to view the screen
through the eye tracker's IR mirror anyway?
LCDs hopeless? No! LCDs' properties more difficult to assess? Yes, definitely!
