FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – 7th May 2013
Infantile Nystagmus charity launches website
IN-vision, the Infantile Nystagmus (IN) charity, has launched its website www.in-vision.org.uk to promote its aims of increasing awareness of the condition, to act as an information hub for parents and professionals, and to raise funds for research.
Infantile Nystagmus, characterised by the constant and involuntary movement of the eyes, is a little known condition that occurs within the first few months of life and lasts a lifetime.
No other UK charity is focussed solely on Infantile Nystagmus: increasing knowledge of the latest national and international developments, encouraging collaboration and furthering research to find a cure.
“The new website looks fantastic, is parent friendly but professional and will be extremely useful for anyone working with a child who has the condition,” said Wendy Sainsbury, Head of Family Support, Early Intervention & Information, National Blind Children's Society (NBCS).
The IN-vision website contains sections on research, resources, news, fundraising and detailed information about the condition. Expert guidance is provided by a Research Advisory Panel that includes Dr Jon Erichsen, senior lecturer in optometry and vision sciences at Cardiff University and Jay Self, consultant paediatric ophthalmologist at Southampton University.
Liz Charter, founder of IN-vision said: “At present there is no known cure for the condition. IN has an unjustifiably low profile and research into it was, and still is, hampered by lack of funding. IN-vision’s mission is to change that.”

IN-vision was set up in April 2010 and became a Charitable Trust recognised by the Charity Commission in May 2011. The Trust was started by the parents of a child diagnosed with Infantile Nystagmus aged three months.
