The CHIITALY 2013 Doctoral Consortium aims at bringing together PhD students working on topics related to the field of Human-Computer Interaction, offering them an opportunity to present and discuss their research to an audience of peers and senior faculty. Students will receive feedback from their peers, and will enjoy discussing their research and career objectives with senior members of the community.
The topics of the Doctoral Consortium are the ones of the main conference, which this year focuses on “building social innovation”.
**ELIGIBILITY**
The Doctoral Consortium welcomes contributions from doctoral students currently registered in a PhD program. Ideal candidates should have worked on their dissertation for at least 6 months; thus, they should have chosen a research topic and possibly have also selected theoretical and methodological approaches. Selection of participants will be based on the quality of the submission and its relevance to the HCI discipline and the conference themes.
**PAPER FORMAT**
Submissions must be single-author, but the name of the supervisor should also be mentioned within the paper. The language of the consortium is English. All submitted materials must be in English.
The paper must:
- clearly formulate the research question,
- identify a significant problem in the field of research,
- outline the current status of the problem domain and related solutions,
- present clearly any preliminary ideas, the proposed approach and the results achieved so far,
- describe the research methodology that is applied or planned,
- outline the contributions of the applicant’s work to the problem domain, and
- highlight their uniqueness,
- be within 6 pages in the ACM SIGCHI style (http://chi2013.acm.org/authors/format/).
Each submitted paper will be reviewed by the members of the Doctoral Consortium Program Committee.
