To confirm we use hiera just about everywhere and it's great basically. It's the only way
we can keep CERN configurations out of our modules which is an aim.
With puppet 3 hiera is very much built in as a backend and is accessed via
something called "puppet data bindings".
A variable named somethign like 'mymodule::myclass::param1' is looked up in hiera automatically
on evaluation. If you starting today consider puppet 3. ... We will go to puppet 3 as soon as possible now
but we have been saying that for most of this year now.
