We (still) have not found a suitable candidate for the following position at Utrecht University, The Netherlands;
Postdoctoral research scientist with a background in quantitative modelling of geo-mechanical processes. This is an industry-funded academic project with support for a period of 3 years max. We’d like to start this project as soon as possible.
Project title is “Anomalous time dependent subsidence above Dutch gas fields: determining the cause and improving long-term predictions”. The project involves analytical and numerical modelling of the mechanics of the crust in response to gas reservoir extraction using quantitative descriptions of rock behaviour. Research team core members are R Govers (Geophysics), W. Spakman (Geophysics), F. Beekman (Tectonics), and C. Spiers (Geomechanics Lab), all from the Department of Earth Sciences, Utrecht University in The Netherlands. The research will be performed at Utrecht University.
We need someone with a strong background in geomechanics modelling.
If you are a potential postdoc or recently graduated/finished PhD students who might be qualified and interested, please contact me and I will send you a brief project description and further job specifics so that you can consider it further.
