If you wish to use Virtual Box then setup a Linux system of your preference (we would recommend a minimum of 4GB for the Linux VM, but 8+ is more sensible) then inside that install as for Linux...
For CentOS:
Get the installer from here:
http://fsl.fmrib.ox.ac.uk/fsldownloads/
then run it as per the instructions here
http://fsl.fmrib.ox.ac.uk/fsl/fslwiki/FslInstallation/Linux
For Ubuntu/Debian:
Install from the Neurodebian repositories:
http://neuro.debian.net/
(choose your OS variant and a mirror site then follow their instructions for installing the repositories) then install FSL with the instructions here:
http://neuro.debian.net/install_pkg.html?p=fsl-5.0-complete
As a quick start, Neurodebian offer a VM with Debian pre-installed and ready for you to install FSL into.
