Dear list,
last week I was presented a large tooth that somebody found as a
stray find during a beach walk at the Baltic Sea coast near Kiel. It
appears to be a carnivore canine, but it does not fit to any
pinnipedian or fissipedian I am aware of, neither to cetaceans. Most
peculiar to me is that the tooth is rather flat. The buccal-lingual
cross section is about 10-15 mm. It might be a fossilized specimen. I
would be grateful for any comments.
