The error was due to an older version of Starlink.
Thanks,

I set the environment again using:
setenv STARLINK_DIR /soft/stardev/
source $STARLINK_DIR/etc/login
source $STARLINK_DIR/etc/cshrc
For the same command
cmult in=450map_00021.sdf out=450map_00021_cal.sdf scalar=491
Now I get the warning
!! Could not read full provenance information from
/local/home/briaz/jcmt/full-data/450map_00021 - continuing anyway...
Should I ignore it?
The good news is that that error means that you Starlink software is working much better. Resourcing those init files fixed the library loading issue.
I'm not sure why you are getting a provenance issue though. Is this a current rsync of Stardev? I might expect that error if Starlink was old and the file was new. Otherwise the file is corrupt somehow. Provenance tracks the data parentage. The "provshow" command lists all the information about the data that went into the output.
