Job Title: Web Content Editor
Salary: £23,225 - £29,275 per annum, depending on experience.
Location: Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute
Reporting to: The Public Engagement Manager
Responsibility: To edit content for the public engagement website www.yourgenome.org.
Terms: Full-time, 6-month maternity cover from June – December 2013
The Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute is one of the world's leading genomic research centres. Situated in Hinxton near Cambridge, the Institute’s research focuses on understanding the role of genetics in human health and disease: www.sanger.ac.uk.
We are currently looking for an experienced web content editor to research, re-write, edit and develop new content for our public engagement website www.yourgenome.org.
Working with a team of science communication experts, the new web content editor will create style guidelines for yourgenome.org. They will apply the guidelines to re-edit existing material and resources to be migrated to the site from the Wellcome Trust Human Genome Site (www.genome.wellcome.ac.uk/), and develop new content targeted at diverse target audiences.
The postholder will have a graduate or post-graduate qualification in a biological science, molecular biology or genetics, and a proven track record of writing clear, accurate and engaging scientific communications for the web aimed at general audiences.
