As we drive a long straight road
in rural Victoria, my wife tells me
her worries - yesterday's and tomorrow's.
Her anxiety rises. I drive relaxed and I
preach my old line of Mindfulness.
She listens and nods, quietly.
The sun is warming us through
our dusty windscreen. Suddenly she says,
'Oh, look at those birds.' Bird shapes
top a row of rough hewn pickets.
'I've never noticed them before!'
