Dear all,
I am about to start some research into whether museums should start engaging
with the recent phenomenon known as MOOCs. This is to be part of a MOOC I'm
doing with the Open University into Open Learning.
I'm sure that most of you know what MOOCs are but just in case...

At this point I wanted to know what the potentials and barriers are to
museums being part of the MOOC movement. Can museums run a MOOC by
themselves or in a consortium Renaissance in the Regions style/ Perhaps if
museums are involved it should be as a content partner with a university.?
For instance, if a university ran a MOOC on Ancient Greek Art then a
partnership with different museums seems obvious.
Also are there any reasons whether that is technical, pedagogical or
cultural why museums should not get involved with MOOCs.
Any thoughts on all of this would be gratefully accepted.
I will put all of my findings together on both Academia and Slideshare.
Best wishes,
Colin Hynson
