Intercultural Business Communication: Bridging the Workplace and the Classroom
June 21st 2013
Workplace globalisation unearths intercultural issues everywhere. As a
result, employers and employees in local businesses, in export, or in
multinationals need to be 'culturally aware'. The economic demand for
intercultural skills comes from business, and a developing body of
business research into these skills is emerging. Much expertise is
also located in university language, linguistic and education
departments. In practice business & language and education &
linguistics, rarely intersect and valuable opportunities for sharing
findings and methodologies are missed.
Edinburgh Napier University is hosting a one day conference which aims
to help redress this by bringing together researchers in both areas to
share findings, methodologies and insights across these disciplines.
The conference is sponsored by Edinburgh Napier University Business
School, the Higher Education Academy and the Arts & Humanities
Research Council.
Details of the call for papers and talk by Dr. Francesca Bargiela can
be found on our
website<http://www.napier.ac.uk/faculties/business/study/research/Pages/ICWCconference.aspx>, www.napier.ac.uk/ICWC<http://www.napier.ac.uk/ICWC>. Please note the new deadline of Sunday, 21st of
April.
We would be grateful if you would circulate this to any of your
contacts who might be interested.
