Dear All,
This is addressed to UK members of the RAS or GeolSoc.
If you are interested in organising a Royal Astronomical Society (RAS)
specialist discussion meeting, please take advantage of this
opportunity quickly! If you are a GeolSoc member and want
to run a RAS Discussion meeting, please contact me or the
BGA Meetings Secretary, Andreas Rietbrock, so we can act
as "fronts" for you with the RAS.
Specialist discussion meetings are a good opportunity for
a small (<100 people) meeting with funding for one or
two overseas speakers, and minimal cost since the room
hire in London is covered. RAS expects that RAS members
will be able to get in for free admission.
Please see the RAS website below for more details on the
organisation and exactly what the RAS will cover.
Regards,
Sheila Peacock,
RAS Council member.

Dear Fellows,
The deadline for proposals for RAS Specialist Discussion Meetings for the academic year 2013/2014 passed on April 1st. However, this year, we still have a small number of vacant slots and would welcome additional proposals to fill these. If you have any ideas please send these to the relevant subject secretary by April 30th.
Further details regarding the organisation of these meetings can be found on the RAS website (http://www.ras.org.uk/events-and-meetings/236-proposing-an-ras-discussion-meeting).
Best wishes
Lyndsay Fletcher (G Secretary, [log in to unmask] <mailto:[log in to unmask]>)
