The British Library is digitising a substantial collection of materials relating to the First World War as part of the Europeana Collections 1914-1918 project, a major digital resource, which will be freely available for the First World War centenary.
We are seeking two experienced cataloguers who will organise, box, and create or enhance the records of number of manuscripts collections that have been selected for digitisation. The materials will be catalogued to archival standards using the Library’s in-house cataloguing system. The successful applicants will also contribute to the recording of relevant copyright information.
You will have a good honours degree in a relevant subject, and either a professional archive qualification or experience of arranging and cataloguing large historical or literary archives for public use. You will also understand the preservation needs of modern papers and a working knowledge of manuscript copyright legislation.
As this is a fixed term project, it is important that you can work independently to meet deadlines. Experience of research in the field of twentieth-century history or literature would be desirable.
