Cataloguing Archivist/s (Film Collection) 6-12 months Fixed Term Contract
Diageo Archive is based at Menstrie, near Stirling within easy reach of Edinburgh or Glasgow.
Diageo is the world’s leading premium drinks company with an unrivalled portfolio of brands including Johnnie Walker, Smirnoff, Guinness and Baileys, which are recognised and enjoyed by millions the world over. In 1990 Diageo took the initiative to be one of the first companies in the industry to establish a living, breathing archive that documents our wide range of brands and our deep history dating back over 400 years.
About the Role
Our Archive is valued as an unique tool for marketers providing brand support, promoting heritage, inspiring new product development and new packaging design, as well as protecting brand trademarks and identities. The Diageo Archive’s historic film collection captures the company’s history in film. The collection spans from the 1920s to the present day and includes TV advertising, promotional films, films about production, as well as other subject matter. The collection is currently in analogue form on VHS, Beta and Umatic tapes and in digital form on DVDs. To secure the preservation of our historic film collection it needs to be appraised, catalogued, and digitised to make it an accessible asset to the business.
Working in our Archive you will be responsible for appraising and cataloguing our film collection, using CALM and professional cataloguing standards. You will work closely with the Digital Archivist who is responsible for development and implementation of the Digital Archiving & Preservation strategy and plan, including the creation of a Digital Archive Repository where access copies of the film collection may be stored.
About You
You will be a qualified Archivist, who will play a key role at the Archive. An excellent team player, you will use your strong communication, organisational and time management skills to ensure the Archive continues to offer a world-class service to its users. A clean driving licence and IT skills are also required.
