Description
The University is seeking to appoint a Professor who will play a key leadership role in further enhancing the research profile of the Department and the extension of its teaching portfolio. The Department enjoys an excellent reputation for its courses in initial and post-qualifying social work education, in childhood & youth studies, and in doctoral education. It hosts a thriving community of doctoral students, working closely with the University’s ESRC Doctoral Training Centre. The Department’s successful research portfolio focuses on policy & practice across the life-course, the development and use of professional knowledge and the pedagogy of professional education, along with a newly launched research centre that is building cross-campus, interdisciplinary collaboration inresearch and innovation in childhood and youth. The Department has ambitious plans for future growth and diversification, including the development of a new interdisciplinary research centre in adult well-being and risk, with a focus upon ageing, disability and mental health. It is anticipated that the successful applicant will lead the development of this research centre; this professorial post is one among a suite of new positions that will strengthen and develop this area of our work.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a track record at the highest levels of scholarship and excellence in both research and teaching, and will provide evidence of successful leadership.
