A postdoctoral grant is available in the Theory group led by
Prof. J-M. Launay at the Institute of Physics in Rennes, France.
The position is funded for two years by the French National Research
Agency (ANR).
The project title is "Ultracold molecular collisions with long-range
interactions in confined geometries".
The work concerns the theoretical description and numerical modelling
of molecular dynamics in optical lattices in the ultracold regime.
Research will be performed in the framework of a joint project with the
experimental group of LENS in Florence.
The study of polar molecules in optical structures at sub-mK temperatures
is a recent and very active field of research. A rigorous theoretical
analysis will be undertaken for a large variety of lattice geometries,
confinement strengths, and field-induced molecular orientations.
Quantum effects such as confinement induced resonances and correlated
pendular motion will be addressed for bosonic and fermionic molecular
species.
The candidate should have a solid doctoral training in Physics and have
obtained his PhD degree less than three years before the starting date
of the position.
A good knowledge of quantum scattering theory is required. Skills in
numerical methods and programming will be appreciated.
Candidates should provide a curriculum vitae, a letter of motivation,
a list of publications, and a summary of their research experience.
At least two reference letters should be sent to Dr. A. Simoni.
The deadline for application is June 15, 2013.
