Paul, you should find that the latest release of the LTI connector for
WebPA includes the support for groups synchronisation (for others
interested in this it can be found at
http://www.spvsoftwareproducts.com/php/webpa-lti/, though I see that the
documentation provided could do with enhancing). Note that this release
is designed to work with WebPA 2.0.0.10 which is currently being
prepared for release by the WebPA project team at Loughborough.
You can find a description of how the groups sync works in the blog post

It has already been tested and released for use by participants in the
ceLTIc:sharing project, so it should be robust.
