An NIH-funded postdoctoral position is available immediately in the
Laboratory for Molecular Neuroimaging at UCLA's Semel Institute for
Neuroscience and Human Behavior and Department of Psychiatry and
Biobehavioral Sciences to study the neural basis of emotion regulation
in patients with Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder (PMDD) (Co-PIs: Dr.
Edythe London and Dr. Andrea Rapkin)
Description: Our lab uses functional and structural neuroimaging (task
and resting state fMRI, PET, cortical thickness and volumetric
analyses, DTI) and neuropsychological experiments to understand
self-control, emotion regulation, and substance abuse. The current
project involves investigating potential abnormal emotional regulation
in PMDD. UCLA has a wealth of neuroimaging (see
http://www.brainmapping.org) and clinical resources. The postdoc will
be joining a productive and collaborative group that utilizes advanced
neuroimaging techniques and is also grounded in both cognitive
neuroscience and psychopharmacological approaches to understanding
addiction and other psychiatric conditions. The post doc will have the
opportunity to take the lead on a project involving brain activation
and functional connectivity of emotional regulation.
Requirements: Ph.D. in a neuroscience-related field or
psychology/psychiatry, M.D., or M.D./Ph.D. We are looking for
candidates with experience in the design, collection, and analysis of
fMRI data, including statistical analysis software such as FSL, SPM,
or others. The successful applicant will be able to function
independently, supervise students and research assistants, have
excellent verbal and written English skills, computing and programming
skills (Matlab, Unix), and a strong aptitude for writing manuscript
and grant applications.
