The idea here is just to make file selection easier. If you enter
data via the "few subjects" option, then for the first subject you'd
select the flow field and then all the scans for that subject in one
go. Then you do the same for the next subject, and so on. If you
enter many subjects, then you'd select all the flow fields for the
subjects together, then all the first images for the subjects
together, then all the second images for the subjects, ... then all
the 1000th subjects etc.
