Opportunity for a consultant/researcher to carry out research into fairness commissions, and civil society initiatives, that aim to reduce poverty.
Background
The Trust is seeking someone to investigate the role that civil society initiatives are playing in tackling poverty and inequality. This research will feed into the Webb Memorial Trust's Programme on Poverty and Inequality, and into the All Party Parliamentary Group on Poverty.
Roles and Responsibilities
The work consists of desk research and national fieldwork to:
• Collect evidence about Fairness Commissions and civil society initiatives on what is working to reduce poverty and inequality.
• Help to organise a meeting for the All Party Parliamentary Group on Fairness Commissions and to produce a report from this.
• Research selected local initiatives and organise a meeting about wider civil society/NGO initiatives.
The successful consultant will work closely with Barry Knight, (Principal Adviser to the Webb Memorial Trust) and Kate Green, MP (Chair of the All Party Parliamentary Group on Poverty).
Timescale and Remuneration
It is envisaged that the work will take 40 days over an eight-month period. The fee for supplying the research and consultancy service will be up to £12,000, and travel expenses will be available.
