Post-doctoral position in astronomy and astrophysics
Astronomical Institute of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic
invites applications for a post-doctoral position in astronomy and
astrophysics. Candidates must hold PhD degree in the field and present
a certificate by the date of employment.
We are Public Research Organization and the largest professional
astronomical institute in the Czech Republic, located at Ondrejov
Observatory and in Prague. A successful applicant will collaborate with
researchers who are organized in scientific departments and working
groups. Experience in one of the subjects studied at the Institute is
valued.

Several positions will be filled during 2013. This year deadlines for
applications are: 20 April, 20 June, and 20 September.
The starting date is expected 3-4 months after each corresponding
deadline (can be negotiated to some extent). The appointment is
initially for one year, an extension for another year is expected upon
satisfactory scientific performance and availability of funds. A
necessary condition is to satisfy legal requirements for the employment
in Czech Republic (EU member state). Salary will be based on the
domestic level.

work in order to define a joint research proposal. Applications

Preferences will be given to applicants who obtained PhD degree in 2009
or later. Please provide the date of PhD defense. Candidates can
apply before finishing their PhD; in this case a letter from the
supervisor stating the planned date of the defense should be included.
Indicate in a cover letter the working group you intend to join, and
arrange for two recommendation letters to be sent directly.
Successful applicants will be notified. Other applications will be put
on a waitlist and forwarded to the next selection deadline unless withdrawn.
