The Centre for Paediatrics, at the Blizard Institute, is an internationally-renowned centre of research. Professor Jonathan Grigg leads studies looking into how the environment affects children's lungs.
The Learning and Outreach Officer will visit primary and secondary schools as part of a research team, develop and deliver educational workshops about how air pollution affects cells in children's lungs, and help involve school children in the research project. Working with the award-winning Centre of the Cell (www.centreofthecell.org), this post is part of a 3-year research study (ACAP; Airway Cells and Air Pollution), funded by the MRC. The post holder will work closely with the research team to recruit and co-ordinate visits to schools, and with the team at Centre of the Cell to produce content that promotes positive messages to science, lifelong learning, higher education and healthcare.
