Call for postdoctoral residency, 2013

Research group Teorías del arte y los medios contemporáneos (Art
Theories and Contemporary Media)
Doctorate in Creation and culture theories
Universidad de las Américas Puebla, México
Comntact: e-mail: [log in to unmask]

Universidad de las Américas Puebla and the project “La epistemología más
allá del texto. Prácticas culturales en la era de la información”
(Epistemology beyond the Text Form. Cultural Practices in the
Information Age) offer a research residency, for a term of 6 months, in
the research group Teorías del arte y los medios contemporáneos (RG),
for the period 2013-2015.3

The applicant must 1) have a Ph.D. at the time of application and not
after more than 5 years of obtaining the degree; 2) have conducted a
research in any discipline related to Arts, Humanities, or Social
Sciences and have addressed some of the issues that RG studies in its
project “La epistemología más allá del texto” (v.g., digital culture,
not-textual practices, expanded forms of writing, subaltern knowledge).

It is expected from the postdoctoral applicant to fulfill the next
activities: 1) to join the discussions in the RG, which holds meetings
fortnightly (in the periods January-May and August-December); 2) to
deliver a public conference on his/her research work; 3) to conclude and
deliver a research paper developed during the residency in the RG for
publication in a refereed international journal; besides, the paper must
include the opportune recognition to the program; 4) to review and
comment the research work of the Ph.D. students and postgraduates of the
program that may be related to the interests of the applicant.

The term of residency must be consecutive and uninterrupted from August
1, 2013.

Total compensation for the 6 months period –travel, accommodation, and
meals expenses, which are borne by the applicant, are included– is for
105,000 Mexican pesos (U.S. $ 8,270 at exchange rate of February 18,
2013), to be delivered in six monthly payments.

The postdoctoral will have full access to the library and the campus
internet network.
At the time of starting the residency, the postdoctoral must present an
existing private health insurance that covers the whole residency period.

A letter of intent and a brief work project, both texts in free format,
must be delivered to the Research Group Director, Alberto López Cuenca,
Ph.D., e-mail: [log in to unmask]

Applications will be received until Wednesday May 15, 2013, and
notifications to selected applicants will be delivered on May 31, 2013,
at the latest.
Most of the discussions in the RG are held in Spanish, so some
acquaintance with Spanish is advisable but it is not a requirement for
applicants since English is fluently spoken in the RG.

Any issue related to this call can be consulted via the above mentioned
e-mail.
