We are pleased to announce that, with plenty of time to go before our March 31 Proposal Deadline, a total of some 125 Papers, from nearly 30 countries, has already been accepted for 'FILM AND MEDIA 2013: The Third Annual Film and Media Conference – The Pleasures of the Spectacle'.
The event is designed to explore, celebrate and critique the manifold screen-based traditions of film, TV and digital media. It will be held as usual in Bloomsbury at the Institute of Education Conference Centre, University of London, on 27-29 June 2013.
Our distinguished Keynote Speakers will be
- Professor Laura Mulvey (Birkbeck, London) on Visual Pleasure;
- Professor Toby Miller (City University) on Media Cultures;
- Professor Jeremy Black (University of Exeter) the Britishness of Bond at 50;
- Sharon Ament (Director, Museum of London) on London: Museum Mediations.
We continue to seek proposals for Papers and three-Paper Panels through our online submission form. Acceptance is via Peer Review, with a turnaround time of one week. MeCCSA is the subject association for the field of media, communication and cultural studies in UK Higher Education. Membership is open to all who teach and research these subjects in HE institutions, via either institutional or individual membership. The field includes film and TV production, journalism, radio, photography, creative writing, publishing, interactive media and the web; and it includes higher education for media practice as well as for media studies.
