The 13th European Cinema Research Forum invites proposals exploring any aspect of otherness or ‘the Other’ in European cinema. Contributions from the realm of theory or practice are equally welcome.
Possible topics include, but are not limited to, the notion of otherness in relation to European cinema and:
• audience/spectatorship
• genders, sexualities and/or ethnicities
• transcultural/transnational film
• film aesthetics
• film production/technologies
• literary adaptations and/or (re-) staging film in other forms
• film festivals
Proposals may be in the form of an abstract for an individual paper or a panel suggestion (3x20 minute papers).
Please send abstracts (individual paper max. 200 words; panel max. 400 words) accompanied by a short bio-bibliography (max. 150 words per presenter) to Dr. Leanne Dawson [log in to unmask]
Abstract deadline: 5 April 2013
Please note: selected conference proceedings will be published in a Special Issue of the peer-reviewed journal, Studies in European Cinema (Intellect).

MeCCSA is the subject association for the field of media, communication and cultural studies in UK Higher Education. Membership is open to all who teach and research these subjects in HE institutions, via either institutional or individual membership. The field includes film and TV production, journalism, radio, photography, creative writing, publishing, interactive media and the web; and it includes higher education for media practice as well as for media studies.
